What is your favorite American Beer and why?

There are thousands of breweries in the United States, both micro and major brands. Each having not just one, but many types of brew. Since I am but one man in a quest for the perfect beer; I am going to need help in finding the right one. D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc., the oldest brewery in America, makes a Black & Tan that is a fantastic combination of thier Premium Beer and Dark Porter. Samuel Adams has Noble Pils that stands up to any Bohemian Pilsner. I want to know your opinion, your favorite style, brand, how it tastes compared to other beers you've enjoyed. (Include: Where you are from, Name of Beer Brewer, City & State, Type of beer, flavor, what you liked most about it. etc.)

This is a great list to find brewers you may have never heard of: http://www.highwayhome.com/foodanddrink/beer/beercompaniesunitedstates.html

Reference-From lightest to darkest: Pale Lager, German Pilsner, Pilsner Urquell, Weissbier, Bass Pale Ale, Dark Lager, Porter, Stout, Imperial Stout.

  1. Unita Beer bottles a Rype Orange Tingled Wheat Beer that is hard to find, but well worth it if you like a wheat beer. I don't add fruit to my beer as I find it to be against my belief system. This has a citrusy flavor on its own. Uinta expanded its offerings through a brand extension called Four+ Brewing, which this is part of. Today, Uinta Brewing Company is one of the 50 largest craft breweries in the country.

  2. Brooklyn Brand Lager, I tried it for the 1st time today. Malted Barley, Hops, Water & Yeast. Amber Lager in it's purest form. The flavor is a rich, robust floral taste. You really taste the hops and malt in this Lager. It went surprisingly well with my Manhattan Clam Chowder. The Brooklyn Bottling company is (no suprise) located in Brooklyn, NY. I highly recommend drinking this Lager. It may be a bit sharp for pale & pilsner drinkers, but those of you who enjoy a good Amber Brew, Brooklyn Lager would be a good choice.

  3. My new favorite beer is from Long Island, New York. Blue Point Brewing's Toasted Lager. Copper in color this brew is made from six different malts including: English Pale, Crystal, Munich, Carapils, Wheat and Belgian Caravienna. Toasted Lager displays a balanced flavor of malt and hop which makes for easy drinking. Special lager yeast is used to produce that long lasting, smooth finish. The "toasted" part of the name refers to thier direct-fire brew kettle’s hot flames. This is a really smooth and tasty brew.
